Public markets have time and again proven that they are the lifeblood of our economy and will continue to have a key role in the post COVID recovery and beyond, injecting much needed investment as companies sought to raise fresh capital.
Furthermore, as we seek to build a global role outside of the EU, we now have the option to regulate differently and regulate better, and the capital markets must continue to play an important role in unlocking growth.
We work with UK regulators on behalf of mid-cap and small equity brokerage firms to promote solutions and frameworks that ensure domestic regulation of equity markets remains agile and effective – providing appropriate protections without being overly burdensome particularly for SMEs.
UKEMA promotes solutions to allow UK equity markets to thrive, supporting the drive to grow the number of listed companies and increase competition, and helping to make the market more resilient to crises.

SIMON RAFFERTY, FCA MCS, Co-Chair
Simon has been the Chief Operating Officer at Winterflood Securities since 2015. He joined the finance team at Winterflood Securities in 2000 and in 2003 he became Financial Controller and Company Secretary. Then he was appointed to Head of Compliance in 2005 and became a Director in 2012. Simon is a qualified Chartered Accountant and prior to Winterflood, he joined Deloitte LLP to work in the Financial Services practice in 1998.
SUNIL DHALL, Co-Chair
Sunil has been the Chief Financial & Operating Officer for Peel Hunt since January 2010. Previously he held a number of senior positions at KBC Financial Products, including Global Head of Operational Risk. Prior to this, he was a senior internal auditor at Credit Suisse. In 2021 Sunil joined a City of London led taskforce commissioned by The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and HM Treasury to improve socio-economic diversity at senior levels in UK financial and professional services. Sunil is a chartered accountant with a degree in Engineering, Economics and Management from Keble College, Oxford.
