UKMEA discuss reforms with City Minister

The UK Equity Markets Association (UKEMA) met with City Minister Andrew Griffith MP at the Treasury on 9 March 2023 to discuss ongoing reforms to equity markets and the role of UKEMA members.

UKEMA Chair and Deputy Chair Sunil Dhall and Simon Rafferty discussed how changes to the prospectus regime and new technology can support increased retail participation, as well as how the UK can support more companies to choose public markets to grow.

UKEMA Chair Sunil Dhall said: “It was great to hear the Minister’s support for the small and mid-cap sector and to discuss the contribution UKEMA members make to supporting deep and liquid equity markets. We were particularly encouraged by his commitment to increasing retail participation in capital markets and ensuring that the UK remains an attractive destination for firms to list. UKEMA will continue to engage with ongoing reforms to achieve that and to improve the small and mid-cap environment.’
